I found this listing on craigslist. Seller states that he/she has 78 Vintage comic books for sale, and that he will sell them ALL, for only $750.

Now, the first thing I should point out here, is that the seller uses the term, "Vintage". Which, to me. Indicates that the seller doesn't know a thing about comic books. Or at least, not anything about the Age Classification of comics (Gold, Silver, Bronze...). Which, would also indicate to me. That the seller is just that. A seller! And not a collector. Meaning, someone who can be bargained with.

However, the seller does mention that these 78 "Vintage" comic books, have been graded and "Certified" by, comicpriceguide.com. Which kinda bothers me, as comicpriceguide refers sellers/collectors to CGC, to have their comic books graded and certified. Comicpriceguide does have a grading "Guide". But that is Far from any kind of an actual, "certification".

Another thing that bothers me, is that ALL of the 78 "Vintage" comic books that the seller is offering for sale, have a "9.4 Near Mint" condition grade. ...Hmmm? Really?

And even the structure of the seller's craigslist Ad, bothers me. As it appears as though, the list the he provides, has been Copied and Pasted from somewhere.

And to top it off, the seller uses ALL CAPS in his AD, and doesn't even post any pictures!

So, you know.
I don't know but that this whole thing, "Bothers Me". And that if you Do contact this seller to purchase these "Vintage" comics, that you should be EXTREMELY Cautious and Careful!

So why would I post News of such a listing?
Well, there Are some great comics in this collection. And for all I know, the seller might be legit. But mostly, so that my readers can see how I disseminate an AD once I've found one. I mean, there was a time when I would "Ask No Questions", because I wanted the collection, and I didn't want to offend the seller.

But let's face it my fellow collectors. It's a Buyers Market!!! The economy is down, and getting worse. Whole comic book collections are [virtually] a dime a dozen now so if the seller really wants to sell that collection, they're gonna have to get right on their price!

Buy Low, and Sell High! That's what I always say.
And NOW, is the time to be Buying! With the proper precautions, of course. Which is exactly why I have posted this article.

I found this *MINT collection of Marvel Comics Conan The Barbarian on craigslist for $400.

The Ad simply read; "OLD COMIC BOOKS!!! - $400". Clicking the craigslist Ad link, to my surprise I found these Conan The Barbarian comic books which "APPEAR to be" in mint condition.

*Seller makes no mention of the condition of these comics, and I'm just guessing myself. But just LOOK at the seller' pictures! Those are mint, if ever I've seen mint. Nevertheless, ask questions and Buyer Beware as these are Not My comic books. I just found them for sale on craigslist... like I said.

Nevertheless, $400 bucks for a Conan #1 ALONE, is a good deal. But this is a collection of #1-10! So I'm wondering, "why this listing still exist?" "Why, someone, has yet to purchase this fabulous collection???" If any of my patrons out there have checked out this listing and found it to be "unworthy", please post a comment and let me know.

Ut,Oh! Somebody didn't pay their storage fees!

Which means that the now new owner probably picked up the whole lot - plus, who knows what else was in that storage unit - for about $10-$15 (just guessing). So what does that mean for us as comic book collectors? Well, nothing. Except that, the new owner has now turned seller, and is looking to make a quick turn around buy selling the whole lot for only, $2650.

That's $0.53 per comic. Making this a Great deal to for someone to check into.

Here is a huge collection of comic books. These comics have been stored vertically in boxes for their entire life so the condition is very good overall. I've acquired the collection from a bought storage lot. The task of selling them in small lots is to time consuming so i am gonna sell them cheap as a wholesale lot.

Everything is in here batman,spiderman, superman, thor, tons of indie and small publisher titles. Any lots this size is gonna have a bit of everything. I am not gonna pick through it with a price guide and look for the valuable books that is to time consuming. Most of hte books are from the 90's and 2000's . I have seen some books that are worth 10 bucks , but i was told there are no super valuable 100$ plus books in there.

Anyways i am selling this cheap so the price is pretty much set. You can pick up, or for a little extra i can deliver and set them up no problem.

This poor guy, is being Forced by his wife to sell all his comic books. Ok, maybe not forced to sell. But definitely forced to Choose, and the comic books lost.

So needless to say, we have a Motivated seller here. And while the prices he is asking for his comic are reasonable, there is no reason to think that he wouldn't be open to cutting an even Better deal, if you are any kind of wheeler dealer negotiator. And really, it may not take that much. Again, just look at the motivation.

I have a lot of 30 Image comic books ($30 total) all bagged and boarded. In this lot are at least 11 first (or zero) issues.
They are mint to near mint condition. I read each one once, then put them back in their boarded bags and there they have been since the 1990's.
I bought comics on the fools errand they were going to be worth something like the old ones.
They are now only worth something to you, a collector.

RECYCLE, Your Old Marvel Comic Books???

Old Marvel Comic Books?

Astonishing! Incredible! Even Criminal!
But TRUE!!!

While shopping craigslist for Comic Book Bargains to post here, on my blog. I came across this one listing titled; "Recycle Your Old Marvel Comic Books".

Thinking it was just some restoration service, I started to move on without clicking the Ad but, there was just something about the word "recycle", that bothered me.

So I clicked the link and found that was in fact, Not a restoration service. But some "person", who is Chopping Up Old Marvel comicbooks to make, "a comic covered dresser for my best friend's birthday".


Worse yet, as they are actually using craigslist, to Solicit Donations of Marvel Comic Books, to Chop Up!


Is this person INSANE???
I mean, sure, chop up some NEW comics which have no value. But not the old ones!

And, ...what am I saying! As even chopping up New comic books is insane. I mean, the comic covered dresser is a nice thought and all. But,.. BUT!!! ...Get a Copier and copy the covers onto a sheet of paper. Or use DECALS!!! Then glue and varnish to your heart's desire. But never, NEVER, use a Real Comic Book!


In all fairness, I guess I should state that, after I calmed down from initially reading the craigslist Ad. And in the writing of this article. I have discovered that the listing actually reads; "Recycle your 'worn' Marvel Comic books".


But STILL!
So incredible this is, that I took a frame capture of the craigslist Ad, and posted it above, for EVIDENCE!!!

Ok so, chopping up comic books in my opinion, is a crime. But I would never FLAG someone's listing. And I hope that wasn't the cause of this listing being flag. Nevertheless, I think I will be a little more careful in my reporting next time.

With its campy combination of lightweight adventure and Spandex disco chic, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century is a nostalgic throwback to post-Star Wars opportunism. Series co-creator Glen A. Larson was incapable of originality, and former soap star Gil Gerard (in the title role) was a bland incarnation of the comic-strip hero, so the much-anticipated series premiered on September 20, 1979, with serious disadvantages. Although the two-hour pilot "Awakening" had tested successfully as a theatrical release, Gerard and the show's producers could never agree on a stable tone for the series, which presents Capt. William "Buck" Rogers as a jovial space cowboy who is accidentally time-warped from 1987 to 2491. Earth is engaged in interplanetary war following a global holocaust, and Buck's piloting skills make him an ideal starfighter recruit for the Earth Defense Directorate, where his closest colleagues are Dr. Huer (Tim O'Connor), squadron leader Col. Wilma Deering (former model Erin Gray, looking oh-so-foxy), the wisecracking robot Twiki (voiced by cartoon legend Mel Blanc), and a portable computer-brain named Dr. Theopolis, who's carried by Twiki like oversized bling-bling. The series struggled through an awkward first season, with routine plots elevated by decent special effects and noteworthy guest stars including Jamie Lee Curtis, ill-fated Playboy Playmate Dorothy Stratten (appearing, with her voice dubbed over, less than a year before her tragic murder), Batman alumnus Julie Newmar, Buster Crabbe (veteran of vintage Buck Rogers movie serials), and several others in a show that favored vamps and vixens over credible science fiction. A full-scale overhaul resulted in a disastrous second season, but devoted fans still gravitate to Hawk (Thom Christopher), the charismatic alien "birdman" who was introduced with new characters and a new, space-faring search for lost tribes from Earth (with echoes of Larson's own Battlestar Galactica). Behind-the-scenes squabbles continued, and by mid-season of 1981, NBC pulled the plug on a breezy, still-engaging series that suffered from uneasy chemistry and never realized its full potential. Existing somewhere between Galactica and Lost in Space in the TV sci-fi food chain, this Buck--with a dearth of DVD extras--now functions as a cheesy stroll down memory lane.
